Semeeah's Savings

Today I am having a new feature on my blog called Semeeah's Savings.I will be interviewing blythe etsy shop owners. My first interview is with Tracy from La Petite Pamplemousse.Check out the interview below:

Semeeah:Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Tracy:  I am an 8th grade teacher.  I teach English and U.S. History and my elective class is sewing.  I live in southern California with my husband and my 10-year-old son.  Some of my favorite things to do (besides sew and play with Blythe) are to read, watch Phineas and Ferb with my son, and work in my garden.

Semeeah: When did you get your first blythe doll?
Tracy: I got my first (and only) Blythe doll last March.  I had been looking at Blythe dolls for about a year on e-bay, but wasn't sure that I really wanted one.  My son dared me to bid on one on e-bay, and to my surprise I won!  My Blythe is a Nicky Lad.  I haven't actually given her a name yet, but my son calls her "Girly Teen Girl" after an episode on SpongeBob Squarepants.  I'm selling Blythe clothes on etsy to earn enough money to buy another Blythe.  I want to get either a Friendly Freckles or a Phoebe Maybe next.

Semeeah: When did you start sewing blythe clothes?
Tracy: I've been sewing clothes for Blythe since before I got my doll.  I know that sounds funny, but I love to sew and making tiny clothes was an easy and fun task for me to do.  I actually bought my doll so that I would have someone to wear all of the clothes that I had already made!  I've been sewing a really long time (like 30 years).  My mom taught me to sew when I was 10 years old.  She knew how to make one thing - a wrap-around skirt, so she taught me how to make that.  Pretty soon, I was a much better sewer than my mom was.  In high school I made my dress for the prom!  Recently I sewed a Belle costume (the pretty yellow ball gown) for a children's stage production of "Beauty and the Beast".  That was a real challenge!

Semeeah: Do you make anything else for blythes?
Tracy:  Mostly I sew for Blythe, although I have tried my hand at crocheting hats for her also.  They haven't come out as nice as I would like, so I guess crocheting just isn't my thing.  I've made several different styles of hats and purses, but I made those by sewing them.  In the future I would like to try making shoes.  There's a cool set of shoe-making tutorials on etsy that I'm saving up for.

Semeeah: Can you tell us about your blythe dolls?
Tracy: Well, I only own one Blythe doll at the moment.  She is a Nicky Lad.  This past summer I took her on vacation with us.  She visited the Grand Canyon (where she "face-planted" and scratched up her forehead!) and Mesa Verde, and she took a ride on the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge railroad.  When people saw her they were either really curious and asked me a bunch of questions about her, or they pointed at me and laughed!  :)

I am the proud owner of three of her dresses which can be seen on my blythe dolls below. They look good on the blythes! She has a variety of dresses.Guess what for all My Blythe Dolls Are Pretty Readers you can use this code for 10% off your order, use code BK1231 when checking out.I hope you like this new feature.Thank you Tracy for being my first blythe shop interviewee.

  1. Semeeah, great interview! Your mom commented over on my blog (LibrariAnne) and mentioned that you do interviews. If you'd be interested in interviewing me and my sister, with whom I run my shop, AnneArchy, we'd love to participate!
